Role Description

Our retiring Head of Foundation Jason Slack has been known for his calm, collaborative and nuanced leadership, successfully settling the School at our new state-of-the-art 80-acre campus at Prestbury, and leading us to considerable success. 2025 was our best ever year for academic results. Our school is full with waiting lists in several year groups, and doing exceptionally well in the current environment with a proven ability to attract a range of families to our holistic yet highly academic offering. Jason has also led an ongoing programme of development for our campus to ensure that our community fully benefits from our facilities.

With a talented and collaborative staff across our teaching and professional services teams, and highly engaged pupil, parent and alumni bodies, we are very well positioned to take King’s to the next level of excellence in the next ten years. Our new Head of Foundation will join us in September 2027 at the start of a new strategic planning cycle and will also be working with Chair Elect Jonathan Watkins, and a highly skilled Board. We seek a leader who will shape an exciting next chapter for the School both educationally and commercially, building on the considerable successes of Jason’s 7 year tenure.

The core elements of the role are:

  • Leadership of whole school educational culture, fostering innovation, ambition, curiosity and collaboration across the academic, pastoral and co-curricular life of the School;
  • Developing and empowering the senior leadership team in their roles and inspiring them to greater success;
  • Strategic leadership and future planning for the School, leading the development of an ambitious new whole school strategy and ensuring that King’s maintains and strengthens its financial position;
  • Commercial leadership, in particular leading the School’s admissions, marketing, development and partnership building efforts with a team of professional experts;
  • Presenting the School effectively to wider audiences as a public figure, engaging with pupils, parents, staff, prospective families and prospective staff, alumni, potential donors, sector partners and wider regional and national stakeholders.
